Thursday, June 07, 2012: Kaspersky Lab, a popular European anti-virus company, has introduced a complete all-in-one package to secure your Android-based tablets. Kaspersky Tablet Security can protect Android users against malicious software and even help them track their tablet in case of loss or theft of a device. As the popularity of Android-based devices is steadily heading north, the open sourced platform is arresting the attention of cyber criminals who intend to exploit the security loopholes and gather confidential data from Android users.
“As more and more people are using Android tablets to store personal data, social network access, mobile banking data, photos, videos and more, any sort of data loss can wreak havoc to users. The Android tablet computer is cheap compared to confidential data. If a tablet gets stolen, it could be purchased again but if banking data gets leaked then it could be nightmarish,” said Jagannath Patnaik, director, channel sales, Kaspersky Lab, South Asia.
The anti-virus engine along with cloud protection technology can provide real time defence by efficiently blocking all malicious programs. It also has a Web protection feature that blocks malicious and fraudulent websites while Internet browsing.
Kaspersky Tablet Security Solution offers block and data wipe functionality in which the tablet user can remotely block data via Web management. “This feature allows the user to completely delete confidential data using Data Wipe feature. So, even if the tablet is lost, the user is still in control of his data,” said Pranav Bhayani, technical support manager-South Asia.
“By using the Find functionality, the owner of the tablet can locate his device remotely via GPS or the nearest GSM cellular base. The users have the option to lock the device if the SIM card is pulled out. The Mugshot function can secretly take photos of a person using a lost or stolen tablet with its built-in camera and then transfer the photos to the owner of the device. So, if the owner gets the photo and location of the unauthorised user, there is an increased chance of the owner getting his device back,” said Bhayani.
Kaspersky Tablet Security Solution was launched yesterday in Mumbai by the company's brand ambassador, Sachin Tendulkar. The security solution retails at Rs 599 only.
